This is an Open Invitation to those interested in helping plan and organize the upcoming State Outdoor Games for Special Olympics Missouri!
We are seeking community members that want to be a part of our Games Management Committee for this event.
Our first meeting is Thursday, March 20th at 1:30pm at Cooper Tennis Complex. For those who want to join but can't make it in person, a virtual link can be provided by contacting Haley Blevins at blevins@somo.org.
State Outdoor Games hosts 5 sports competitions: Softball, Flag Football, Golf, Tennis, and Bocce. The event will be hosted on Friday, October 17 - Sunday, October 19, with set up beginning earlier in the week. During this event, we will host 900-1,000 athletes, 225+ coaches & chaperones, 300+ volunteers, 20+ staff members, and several Law Enforcment officers from around the state. Sports venues include Killian Fields, Meador Park, Lake Country Soccer, Cooper Tennis, Bill & Payne Stewart Golf Course. Here's a quick run down of what the event schedule looks like:
Friday:
Bocce, Tennis, and Golf all hosted simultaneously
Healthy Athletes Opportunities available at a minimum of 1 venue
Opening ceremonies hosted in the evening
Lunch and dinner provided to all athletes, coaches, staff, and volunteers.
Saturday:
Softball hosted all day
Healthy Athletes Opportunities available
Dance/Bingo/Entertainment in evening
Lunch and dinner provided to all athletes, coaches, staff and volunteers.
Sunday:
Flag Football hosted all day
Lunch provided to all athletes, coaches, staff and volunteers.
Sub-Committees include Development/Fundraising, Food Services, Medical, Opening Ceremonies, Special Events, Equipment/Signage, Volunteers, Housing, Competition, Social Activities, and Security.
